The short version
- We don't run servers that collect your data, and the game has no accounts, names or chat.
- Your progress, coins and outfits are saved on your device only.
- The game is made for all ages. It asks your age once at first launch. Players under 13 (or under the age of digital consent where they live) only ever get non-personalised ads, and their advertising ID is never collected.
- The game is free because of ads. Our ad partners collect device and ad data. In the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland, and for players under 16 everywhere, ads are personalised only if you allow it. Elsewhere older players get personalised ads unless they turn them off. Either way you can change it any time in Settings.
- Purchases go through Apple or Google. We never see your payment details.
- Online co-op uses Unity's servers to connect two phones with a room code.
Who we are
Glass Carriers is made and published by the independent team behind the game, Glass Carriers ("we", "us"). We are responsible for the personal data processed through the game and this website. You can reach us at huyparody@icloud.com.
This policy covers the Glass Carriers game on iPhone, iPad and Android, and this website. It explains what data is involved, why, who else handles it, and the choices you have.
What stays on your device
The game saves the following in a file on your phone or tablet. It is not sent to us.
- Your level progress, stars, best times and coins.
- The hats, clothes and outfits you have unlocked, and how many rewarded ads you have watched toward each one.
- Settings: music, sound effects, vibration, graphics quality, language, your answer to the ad question, and whether you are in the younger age group (the year you enter is not kept).
- Whether you bought Remove Ads (the game also re-checks this with the store).
The save file is signed so the game can tell if it has been edited. Deleting the game deletes the save. There is no cloud save, so we cannot restore lost progress.
We do not use an analytics service in the game. If we ever add one, we will update this policy first.
Ads
Glass Carriers is free to play and shows two kinds of ads: full-screen ads between levels, and optional rewarded ads you choose to watch (for example to unlock an outfit or to revive at a checkpoint). No ads load until you have answered the age question on first launch and, where it is asked, the ad question.
Ads are delivered through Unity LevelPlay, a mediation service that picks an ad from networks including ironSource, Unity Ads and Google AdMob. To show, count and protect ads, these partners may collect:
- Device identifiers: the advertising identifier (Apple's IDFA, only if you allow tracking; Google's Advertising ID on Android) and identifiers that only this game uses, such as Apple's IDFV.
- Your IP address and the approximate location it implies (country or city level).
- Device and game information: model, operating system, language, screen size, network type, game version.
- Ad interactions: which ads were shown, watched, skipped or tapped.
Partners use this to choose and deliver ads, limit how often you see the same one, measure results, prevent fraud and, only if you allowed it, personalise ads based on your interests. Each partner handles this data under its own privacy policy, linked in Partners we use.
Your ad choices
The age question
On first launch the game asks for your year of birth on a neutral screen that does not suggest an answer. It only uses it to place you in an age group; the year itself is not stored or sent anywhere.
- Under 13, or under the age of digital consent where you live (up to 16 in parts of Europe): the game skips the ad question and Apple's tracking prompt. It tells every ad partner the player is a child (child-directed treatment under COPPA, and "under the age of consent" under GDPR), so ads are contextual only and the advertising identifier is not collected.
- Older players in the EU, EEA, UK or Switzerland, older players under 16 anywhere, and players whose device region is unknown see the ad question below.
- Players aged 16 or over everywhere else skip the ad question: personalised ads are on, and you can turn them off at any time in Settings. The region is taken from your device's region setting.
The ad question
Where it is asked, you choose whether you allow personalised ads.
- Allow: we tell our ad partners you consent to personalised advertising.
- Don't allow: we tell our ad partners you do not consent (GDPR) and that your data must not be sold or shared for targeted advertising (US state privacy laws). You will still see ads, but they are not based on your interests.
You can change your choice at any time in the game: Settings → Personalised ads. Turning it off sends our ad partners the same signals as Don't allow.
Apple's tracking prompt (iOS)
When personalised ads are on for an older player on iPhone or iPad (because you chose Allow, or because they are on by default where you live), iOS then shows Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. If you decline it, or turn off Allow Apps to Request to Track in iOS Settings, the advertising identifier (IDFA) is not shared with anyone. Younger players never see this prompt.
Device settings
On Android you can reset or delete your Advertising ID in Settings → Privacy → Ads (wording varies by phone). On iOS you can manage tracking in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
Purchases
The game offers one optional purchase, Remove Ads, which stops the full-screen ads between levels. Payment is handled entirely by the Apple App Store or Google Play under their terms and privacy policies. We never receive your name, card number or billing address.
The game receives a signed transaction record from the store so it can confirm the purchase and restore it if you reinstall. That record stays on your device.
Online co-op
When you play online, one player creates a room and shares a short room code; the other enters it. To make this work the game uses two Unity Gaming Services:
- Unity Authentication creates an anonymous player ID for your installation. It is not linked to your name, email or any account.
- Unity Relay passes game data between the two devices (positions of the workers and the glass, level choice, ping) through Unity's servers. Unity processes your IP address to route that traffic.
There is no chat, no player names and no friend list. A room code stops working once the room closes. Online play is optional; if you never tap Online, these services are not used.
Partners we use
These companies process data when you use the game. They act under their own privacy policies.
| Partner | What for | Privacy policy |
|---|---|---|
| Unity LevelPlay & ironSource | Ad mediation and ads | unity.com |
| Unity Ads | Ads | unity.com |
| Google AdMob | Ads | policies.google.com |
| Unity Authentication & Relay | Online co-op | unity.com |
| Apple App Store | Download and purchases (iOS) | apple.com |
| Google Play | Download and purchases (Android) | policies.google.com |
We do not sell your personal data for money. Under some US state laws, letting ad partners use data for personalised ads can count as "selling" or "sharing"; choosing Don't allow, or turning off Personalised ads in Settings, opts you out.
This website
This website sets no cookies, runs no analytics and loads no third-party trackers. Fonts, scripts and videos are served from the site itself. Like any web server, the host may keep short-lived technical logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) to deliver the site and keep it secure.
Legal bases (EU, EEA, UK)
- Consent for personalised ads and, on iOS, tracking, only from players old enough to give it. You can withdraw it any time in Settings.
- Performance of our agreement with you to run online co-op you start and to deliver purchases.
- Legitimate interests to show non-personalised ads that keep the game free, limit ad frequency and prevent ad fraud.
- Legal obligations where the law requires us to keep or disclose information.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, object to or restrict its use, receive a copy, withdraw consent, and opt out of the sale or sharing of personal data for targeted ads. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Because we keep no data on our own servers, most rights are best exercised like this:
- Ads: switch Personalised ads off in Settings, reset your advertising ID, or contact the ad partners through the links above.
- Game data: delete the game to erase your save.
- Anything else: email huyparody@icloud.com and we will help, including passing your request to Unity or Google. We answer within 30 days and will not treat you differently for using your rights.
Children
Glass Carriers is made for players of all ages, including children. For players the age question places in the younger group:
- Ads are never personalised, and the game does not collect or share the advertising identifier.
- Ad partners are told the player is a child and must treat ad requests that way. They may still process the device's IP address and basic device information to deliver the ad, cap how often it shows and prevent fraud.
- There is no chat, no player name, no profile and no account. Online co-op only connects to a friend who has the room code.
- Remove Ads is bought through Apple or Google, whose family controls (Ask to Buy, Google Play purchase approvals) let parents approve purchases.
We do not knowingly collect personal data from children beyond what is described here. Parents can ask us questions or ask us to delete data at huyparody@icloud.com, and we will work with our partners to act on it.
Retention and security
Your save file stays on your device until you delete the game. Relay traffic is passed through in real time and not stored by us. Ad and service partners keep data for the periods set in their own policies.
We keep the data we handle to a minimum, sign the save file against tampering, and only work with established partners. No system is perfectly secure, but we will tell you without undue delay if a problem affects you.
International transfers
Our partners operate worldwide, including in the United States, so your data may be processed outside your country. Where the law requires it, they rely on safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
Changes to this policy
If the game changes how it handles data, for example by adding a new ad network or an analytics service, we will update this page and the effective date at the top before the change ships. For significant changes we will also say so in the game or on the store listing.
